Good evening Ravenswood Middle parents,
This is Will Hosaflook, Superintendent of Jackson County Schools. As you are aware, we have experienced sporadic heating issues in the upstairs section of Ravenswood Middle School the last few days. This issue has been tracked down to a control board malfunction in the master HVAC unit on the roof, which was replaced yesterday, and again today. Our master unit would cycle from 25% efficiency to 100%, then back to 25% maintaining a low threshold set-point temperature between 68-72 degrees in most classrooms. Around 1:14 p.m. today, the system is working at 100% efficiency. The only room below 70 degrees is the library, which is at 68.4 degrees and steadily climbing. Please rest assured, that if a future malfunction occurs, the Ravenswood Middle School administration and staff have a plan in place to relocate students to other areas in the school that are conducive and safe for learning to take place. Also, if you have questions, please do not look to FaceBook or other Social Media platforms for answers as the information on those platforms can often be misleading. In matters of this importance, please know I am more than willing to answer any questions you may have. I apologize for this issue and hope the heating system continues to operate as it should. Thank you and have a wonderful evening.
