Teacher of the Year Program
The National Teacher of the Year Program began in 1952 and continues as the oldest most prestigious national honors program that focuses public attention on excellence in teaching. Sponsored by the Council of Chief State School Officers and the Smarter Kids Foundation, this program is the longest, ongoing awards program honoring classroom teachers in the country. The West Virginia Teacher of the Year Program is coordinated with the national program and annually recognizes all county teachers of the year at a ceremony in Charleston. A committee appointed by the State Superintendent evaluates all county nominees and interviews a select group of finalists before making their final decision. Chosen from among the State Teacher of the Year nominees by a national selection committee, the National Teacher of the Year is introduced to the American people by the President of the United States. Grievance Forms
The Grievance Board has designed grievance forms that should be used in filing grievances. The forms can be downloaded and printed in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF), a format widely used to distribute documents so the documents can be viewed and printed exactly as the original. To view and print a grievance form, you must first obtain the free Adobe Acrobat Reader from Adobe's web site. Grievance forms and specific information on the grievance process may be downloaded from the West Virginia Grievance Board web site at WV Grievance Board.
Grievance forms are also available in the Superintendent’s Office. Employees filing a grievance must submit the completed grievance form to the Superintendent and the WV Public Employee Grievance Board. Jackson County Board of Education Policies 3340 (professional employees) and 4340 (service employees) outline the grievance procedure and the required timelines
Equal Employment Opportunity
The Jackson County Board of Education does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, age, disability, or national origin in employment in the administration of any of its educational programs and activities.
