Upcoming athletic events!
Good evening. This is Will Hosaflook, Superintendent of Jackson County Schools. Wednesday brings much anticipation with the start of a new school year. I am so excited to see our students and employees back in our buildings as we continue to work together to become the #1 school district in our state.
We begin this school by sharing wonderful news – Jackson County Schools is now the 5th-ranked school district in WV in ELA and Math proficiency, moving up five spots from last year.
We are so fortunate to have a fantastic community of parents and guardians that understand the importance of a first-class education and are willing to go above and beyond to ensure the success of our students and schools.
As I just mentioned, our goal is to be # 1. Leading the state will not come easy. It will take hard work, determination, and perseverance from our children and the entire community to demand high expectations and excellence in our schools.
I believe in the power of public education, as well as our parents, our employees, and especially our communities. Anything is possible; we must be willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish our goal.
As always, I ask for your patience on the first day of school. There are many moving parts that we will continually perfect throughout the year. Once again, thank you for your support and encouragement as we start another exciting school year. Congratulations on your work being a Top 5 school district in the state of WV.
Thank you and have a wonderful evening.
Upcoming Athletic Events!
Parents and Students of Ravenswood High School,
First of all, I'm really looking forward to getting this year started and building off the academic successes we had last year. I know summer can sometimes seem so short, but getting back in the routine of school is a good thing!
I want to make sure that everyone is aware of a couple things coming into the new year. The staff of Ravenswood High School has overwhelmingly agreed that backpacks in the classroom present an unnecessary obstacle in the aisles. Every kid will be assigned a locker, and their backpack should be kept in there if they bring one to school.
Also, students should not have their cell phones out during class or in the hallways. We understand that circumstances exist where a child may need to be in contact with a parent for emergency purposes. If something like this exists, be sure to communicate with the administration so arrangements can be made.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the school at (304) 273-9301.
Good afternoon.
Students may pick up their MacBooks on the following dates:
Freshmen & Sophomores on Thursday, August 17, from 10 - 6.
Juniors & Seniors on Friday, August 18, from 11 - 4:30.
You will enter through the middle school entrance near the cafeteria. The entry doors will have signs. The deployment process will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes depending on the number of students present at the time you arrive. Please plan accordingly. If a student is unable to pick up their device on their scheduled date and time, they will receive it when school begins. Thank you!

Athletic events this week:
Good evening. This is a reminder to all families that on Friday, April 21, 2023, Jackson County Schools will have a three-hour early dismissal for all students. If your child rides a bus, the bus will arrive at the drop-off location three hours before the normal drop-off time. As always, you can check the Zonar app to see the exact location of your child’s bus at any given time. Thank you and have a wonderful evening.
Good evening,
This is a reminder that Jackson County Schools will be closed for Spring Break beginning Monday, April 3rd, through Friday, April 7th. Please have a wonderful, safe, and relaxing Spring Break.
Good evening. This past Thursday, the Jackson County Board of Education passed the creation of an Electrician Technician program for students at Ravenswood High and Ripley High that will be housed at the former Ravenswood Middle School. I encourage all Sophomores and Juniors interested in the newly created program to meet with their high school counselors as soon as possible to learn about the class requirements for the program. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students as we try to meet the needs of our community as new businesses enter our area. If you have any questions regarding this program, I encourage you to contact your son’s or daughter’s high school for more information.
Thank you and have a wonderful evening.
